Obituary For Ruth Benford

Funeral service for Ruth Benford, 76, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with internment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL 36801, Bishop Johnnie Hill will officiate.

Ms. Benford, who passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at the ARC of Eastern Elmore Facility in Wetumpka, Alabama, was born July 3, 1949 in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Monday, March 23, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Ella Lee Benford and Mattie Benford both of Opelika, AL; one sister-in-law, Thelma Benford of Auburn, AL; two adoring nieces, Nadine Porter of Birmingham, AL and Shirley Benford of Washington, DC; one caring great-nephew, Desmond Andrews; a beloved cousin, Walter (Delois) Varner; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
