Funeral service for Stella Alvis, 78, of Opelika, AL, will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2026, at Godβs House of Prayer Holiness Church, 573 Harper Avenue, Auburn, AL 36830, with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL 36801, Bishop Frank McLeod will officiate.
Mrs. Alvis, who passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, at her home in Opelika, Alabama, was born October 13, 1947, in Eatonton, Georgia.
Public viewing will be Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. β 6:00 p.m. Family hour will be from 6:00 p.m. β 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Alvis will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: three daughters, Barbara (Benjamin) Turpin of Phenix City, AL, Jacqueline (Norman) Pitts of Loachapoka, AL and Traci (Marcus) Jefferson of Newnan, GA; a niece as a daughter, Aubrey Collier of Opelika, AL; five sons, Bobby Milner, Darion Swain both of Eatonton, GA, Jeffery Milner of Jackson, MI, Tony (Kimberly) Milner of LaGrange, GA and Victor (Hattie) Alvis of Opelika, AL; a grandson as a son, Dontarius Swain of Opelika, AL; four sisters, Fannie Young (Tommy) of Opelika, AL, Dorothy (Anthony) Farley, Georgia Bell Swain and Linda (Willie) Hitchcock all of Eatonton, GA; two brothers, Roger (Melody) Swain of Charleston, SC and Robert (Dosia) Swain of Siloam, GA; four sisters-in-law, Daisy Alvis of Cusseta, AL, Linda Carlisle, Gloria Harris both of Opelika, AL and Dorothy Jean Nelson of Indianapolis, IN; one brother-in-law; Levi (Jacqueline) Dowdell of Opelika, AL; Stella also leaves to cherish her memory: fifty-four grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; special and devoted friends, Kathy Jackson, Juanita Williams, Verlinda White, Patricia Avery, Kathy Lewis and Juanita Woody
