Obituary For Tavian LaTrent “Cadillac Slim” Melton
: Funeral service for Tavian Melton, 44, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2024 at New Spirit Missionary Baptist Church, 3302 Dallas Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801 with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Tyrone Edwards will officiate.
Mr. Melton, who passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, was born December 2, 1979 in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Melton will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his fond memory: wife, Tina Alisha Melton of Opelika, AL; eight children, Zakery, Alexander, Matthew, Jacob, Joshua, Talia, Hannah and Grace all of Opelika, AL; parents, Houston and Donna Melton of Opelika, AL; one brother, Jason Melton of Opelika, AL; six aunts, Gail (John) Patterson of Chicago, IL, Nutree Frazier of Duluth, GA, Brigetha Finley, Rebecca Walker, Jerri Turnbough all of Auburn, AL and Gloria (Frederick) Lewis of Fort Lauderdale, FL; five uncles, Terry (Mae Doris) Melton of Opelika, AL, Elijah (Mary Jewel) Melton of Waverly, AL, Greg (Gail) Tolbert of Prince George, VA, Willie (Gracie) Tolbert and Kim Antiono Tolbert both of Auburn, AL; five sisters-in-law, Tammy Jones of Opelika, AL, Jacqueline Jones of Seattle, WA, Winefred (Darrius) Campbell of Temple, GA, Gabrielle Jones of Auburn, AL and Clemmie Jones of Valley, AL; six brothers-in-law, Bueman Jones, Jr., Daniel Jones both of Opelika, AL, William Jones of Wichita, KA, Orlando (Stephanie) Hairston of Valley, AL, Bryan Jones and Jonathan Jones both of Dallas, TX; a host of other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

I am heartbroken to hear about my good, good friend. Tavian and I worked together at Check Into Cash for MANY years. Just the two of us. He was a true angel that God loaned us here on earth. He was always there for me, offering words of encouragement, speaking life into me and my daughter. It was a blessing just to be in his presence.
