Obituary For Tazzar Willie Nelms
Funeral service for Tazzar Nelms, 78, of Auburn, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2026, at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 West Farmville Road, Auburn, AL, 36830 with interment in church cemetery, Reverend V. Dion Gilbert will officiate.
Mr. Nelms, who passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama, was born July 8, 1947, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Nelms will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife of 48 years, Bevelyn Nelms of Waverly, AL; four sons, Damon (Colthilda) Nelms of Opelika, AL, Gerald Lockhart of Loachapoka, AL, Tazzar Javis “TJ” Nelms of Waverly, AL and Quinci (Shanetra Spinks) Nelms of Auburn, AL; one daughter, Veronica Smith of Auburn, AL; sixteen grandchildren, Brittany Spinks, QuinJavis Nelms, Khadijah Nelms (Malique), Quinesha Nelms, Quinora Nelms (Semorè), Quinci Nelms, Jr., Zoe Wilson, JaeKwan Nelms, Jamonie Shaw, Shacoria Brown, Ashley Brown, Jacob Nelms, Gertavious Canada, Marquerious Canada, Gerquerious Matthews and Roderick Nelms; two sisters, Charlie Mae Nelms of Waverly, AL and Yolanda Zellars Jackson of Auburn, AL; two brothers, Tommie (Vicki) Nelms and Broderick Zellars of Waverly, AL; one uncle, Lonnie (Mary) Nelms; two special cousins, Thelma Bailey and Sarah Bailey both of West Shawmut, AL; three sisters-in-law, Barbara (Dorsey) Weeks, Bernice Burnett both of Charlotte, NC and Teresa Whiting of Auburn, AL; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Jordan of Alexander, VA and Jerome Perry of Auburn, AL; special sister-in-love, Barbara Terrell of Auburn, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, MSMBC Family, and friends.
The family of the late Mr. Tazzar Willie Nelms acknowledges with grateful appreciation all acts of kindness, prayers, cards, telephone calls, flowers, and words of comfort extended to us during our time of bereavement. May God bless each one of you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up with him 5 years ago. I came home and he came to see me. It was so good to see him. I believe what the bible say and John 5;28,29 that we would see him again, Rest in Peace. My friend and I will see you in paradise.
