Funeral service for Torence Harris-Ballard, 49, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Mount Traveler Missionary Baptist Church, 1229 South Dawson Avenue, Waverly, Alabama 36879, with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Benjamin C. Datiri will officiate.
Mrs. Harris-Ballard, who passed away Friday, July 29, 2022 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, was born January 4, 1973 in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, August 5, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Facial covering is required).
Mrs. Harris-Ballard will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
“Mookie” as she was known by family and friends, graduated from Opelika High School Class of 1991. Mookie was a member of the Ricks Chapter #217 OES. She enjoyed fishing but her passion was singing. She was a proud member of the Heavenly Stars Gospel Group. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Charles Ballard of Lafayette, AL; four children, Toretta Huguley of Loachapoka, AL, Teanna Harris (Quaderious Ricks) of Notasulga, AL, Za’Kobe Collins and Za’Kwan Collins both of Auburn, AL; parents, Joseph Harris of Charlotte, NC and Mae Doris (Terry) Melton of Opelika, AL; two stepchildren, Charles Ballard, Jr. of Lafayette, AL and Skykeria Ballard of Lanett, AL; three grandchildren, Zuan ‘Querrious Smith of Opelika, AL, A’Zeria Bishop of Loachapoka, AL and Messiah Harris of Notasulga, AL; one brother, Larry Maddox of Waverly, AL; four uncles, Clifford (Helen) Maddox of Loachspoka, AL, Bobby (Vickie) Maddox of Houston, TX, Eddie B. (Sheree) Maddox of Opelika, AL and Nathaniel Maddox of Waverly, AL; a nephew, TyQaun Grady of Auburn, AL; mother-in-law, Virginia Ballard of Lafayette, AL; a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends
