Obituary For Valestine "Val" Penn Wilson
Funeral service for Valestine Penn Wilson, 71, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, 4454 Lee Road 166, Opelika, AL, 36804 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend S. Dewayne Drakeford will officiate.
Mrs. Wilson, who passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025 at her home in Opelika, Alabama, was born March 14, 1954, in Lee County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, December 5, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The Morning Star Chapter #734 Order of Eastern Star Ritual will start at 5:30 p.m.
Mrs. Wilson will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Marico Wilson of Opelika, AL; one granddaughter, Jennie Finely of North Carolina; one godson, DeAngelo Jiles of Opelika, AL; two sisters, Belinda (Willie) Barnes of Salem, AL and Shelia Penn both of Opelika, AL; three brothers, Oscar Lee Penn III, Edward Penn both of Opelika, AL, and Marvin Gauntt of Tallassee, AL; three nephews, Quenteze Barnes, Jureze Barnes both of Salem, AL and Marquez Penn of Opelika, AL; three nieces, Lashune Lewis, Jessica Penn of Auburn, AL, and her special niece and caretaker, Tomeka Penn of Opelika, AL; great-niece, Desiree Penn of Opelika, AL; a host of other relatives and friends.
