Funeral service for Willie Reese, 85, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, 21935 U.S. Highway 80, Opelika, AL 36804 with interment in Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 908 Hughley Road, Opelika, AL 36804, Reverend Rodney Adkins will officiate.
Mr. Reese, who passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, was born December 7, 1940, in Jefferson County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Friday, March 27, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Reese will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
He leaves to cherish his memory: seven children, Brenda (Leon) Beard, Linda Reese, Ronald (Jackie) Reese, Michael (Pamela) Reese all of Opelika, AL, JoAnne Reece of Auburn, AL, Quanetta (Roderick) Johnson of Montgomery, AL and Makiya Reese of Camp Hill, AL; fifteen grandchildren, Antonio Reese, Anntionetta Reese, Andreas Card, Charnetta Reese, Chiquita Reese, Kawandra Reese, Chasman Reese, Lamarcus Reese McGhee, Roderick Johnson, Jr., JaQuena Johnson, Jayln Johnson, Jorlyn Johnson, Jakaylei Johnson, Ronald Reese, Jr. and Danielle Wilborn; a host of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Reece of Opelika, AL and Brenda (Dave) Ashby of East Orange, NJ; one brother, Willie James Reese of Bronx, NY; three bonus children, Dorothine Vaughn, Barbara Jackson and Janice Edwards; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
