Obituary For Willie Vester "Jay Bird" Woodson

Funeral service for Willie Woodson, 84, of Auburn, AL, will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Green Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 390 Lee Road 106, Auburn, AL 36830 with interment in the church cemetery, Reverend Roland Austin will officiate.

Mr. Woodson, who passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, was born October 7, 1937 in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Friday, July 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Facial covering is required). Mr. Woodson will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Corine Woodson of Auburn, AL; three children, Melissa Woodson, Reginald (Cynthia) Woodson both of Auburn, AL and Victoria "Vickie" (Clay) Jones of Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren, Shanee (David) Martin of Alabaster, AL, Malesha (Joshua) Carter, Sr. of Montgomery, AL, Octavian “Trez” (Chaun) Brown of Orlando, FL, Keneshia Woodson of Lithonia, GA, Terry (Christie) Buchanon of Opelika, AL, Denesha Buchanon of Auburn, AL and Jasmine (Kwame) Agyemang of Loganville, GA; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Timothy (Vivian) Woodson of Columbus, GA and Terry Lee Woodson of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Catha Lillie of Opelika, AL; one uncle, Monroe Evans of Syracuse, NY; three aunts, Annie Ruth Morgan, Lizzie Morgan both of Gary, IN and Hattie Hall of Opelika, AL; four brothers-in-law, Taz Reese, Reverend William (Elease) Reese, Sr. both of Detroit, MI, Zachariah “Zack” (Geraldine) Reese and John Reese both of Opelika, AL; one sister-in-law, Mamie Woodson of Gary, IN; god-son, Willie (Joann) Bryant of Camp Hill, AL; a friend as a brother, Taylor (Essie Rene) Bryant of Gary, IN; a host of special nieces, special nephews, special cousins, church members and friends.
