Miss Joann L. Henderson passed June 4, 2019. Services Tuesday, June 11, 2019 11 AM Holsey Temple CME 704 Charlotte Place Interment Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Joann Lakisa Henderson was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 10, 1972 to Sylvia Henderson and the late Alonzo Henderson. She had only one daughter, Destine Monia Henderson. She graduated in 1990 from West Fulton High School.

Joann started her working career at Georgia Regional Hospital. However, it wasn’t until she worked at the City of Atlanta when she found her passion for working. She worked for the City of Atlanta for 19 years as an Area Supervisor (The City of Atlanta Public Works Department North Avenue Installation).

Joann was a very loving and generous person. She never met an enemy unless you created a problem. Her life was filled with joy and happiness. Joann loved her church family and friends. She also loved spending time at the casino. She was determined to not let her illness get her down. Joann is preceded in death by her grandmother, Bessie K. Ray; father, Alonzo Henderson; and daughter, Destine Monia Henderson.

Her memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of those left behind: mother, Sylvia; brothers, Termaine Shanks Sr., Kenyon Shanks (Lawanda Shanks); niece, Tremeeka Shanks; nephew, Termaine Shanks Jr.; aunts, Delores Blash and Lottie Thomas; extended family, Mama Neat and the girls; and a host of Godchildren, cousins, and other family members and friends.
