I knew Mother Addie Mae Johnson for as long as I can remember at her home and especially CLEAR CREEK NO. 1 CHURCH. She served as an usher and was knowledgeable about her duties. Last time that I talked to her we talked about her relatives and mine that go back to the building and organization of Clear Creek No. 1 church. We were church descendants because of our ancestors. She and her late husband Early was business honors during the early segregation era. She was religiously inspiring.
Words cannot express how much we are going to miss you Aunt Mae, the smiles, laughter and your sweet pound cakes that you use to make for us when we came home for Xmas. You are ours sweet Angel and I hope you will be looking down from heaven on us. You left us a pass way to follow and showed us how to be obedient to God and to lean on God in situations and things we don't understand to put our trust in him. You touched many hearts and souls.

Mrs Addie Mae was a very loving and kind neighbor. We each have known her for a life time. She was always a quiet spoken, respected pillar in the community advocating and demonstrating the role of a good and faithful neighbor. During difficult times, sickness and despair within families Mrs. Addie Mae would always fondly show up with a smile, a beautiful cake and encouraging words of hope. We remember so clearly her sense of kindness and helpfulness toward others as we think back about the Black Farmers' project many years ago. Mrs Addie Mae was the person who ensured that every household in our Gallman community fully understood the significance of the initiative for black families. She visited every neighbor house going door to door selflessly sharing handouts and important information needed for the process. Ms. Addie Mae will forever be remembered for her God fearing love for others, her faithful Christian trust in God, her infectious smile, and her unwavering friendship and kindness to everyone. We also have very fond memories of her participation in the Clear Creek No. 1 Choir events. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and pray that you find comfort in knowing her legacy lives through the compassion she constantly gave to others. Carolyn, Gwen, Ella and Lilly
