Some math teachers can't teach and SOME CAN! I never would have passed Calculus I & II without the very kind and patient teaching of Dr. Bowers! Still remember his constant admonition to "show your work " and helping with practical applications in every class. God bless him and the family. Alton Walker Morehouse Man 1984
May I offer my condolences and prayers to the Bowers family at this time of bereavement. Fred and I worked at SUNY together for three years. I remember we took a trip to Montreal Canada and partied the whole weekend. Fred was a very good friend of mind and I will miss him greatly!
Brother Fred was a delight and many students' favorite mathematics professor. They were confident that he was going to help them no matter how much it took. He was a kind and very positive colleague. He was already missed since his retirement. Now, he will be missed a little more.
I join many in offering our sincere condolences to the Bowers family. We thank you and the Great God he served for sharing him with Geogia State University, The Atlanta University Center, and other Universities and Colleges. Dr. Bowers set the example of a Great Mentor, Friend, Neighbor to me and many others.

Dr. Bowers helped shape my pedagogical philosophy as high school level math teacher. His patience, fairness, and mathematical knowledge helped me reach my potential as a student. Each day I teach, I strive to do the same for my students.

Dr. Bowers was my favorite mathematics professor when I was a student at Spelman College. I also had the opportunity to work with him as a colleague too. Dr. Bowers was the kindest and warmest person you would ever meet. He will be greatly missed.
Dr. Bowers was my mathematics professor at Spelman College. His kindness, generosity of spirit and expert knowledge modeled for me what members of math community could be like. He inspired me to reach higher heights in life. I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to be taught by him. Many peace and blessings to the family.
One of my favorite professors at Spelman College. Dr. Bowers helped us as freshman, newly moved to Atlanta understand how to navigate life and the city itself. He was truly a blessing to us. He will be missed dearly.
Namaste. To the family, friends, colleagues, and students of Dr. Fred Bowers I offer a moment of deep reflection and soul felt joy. Dr. Bowers was an outstanding academician and a lovingly FIRED UP mentor; there simply was no room for mediocrity in his space. I have the extraordinary life that I am experiencing today because he cared enough to 'fire me up' when I began to half step on my future! I have thanked him many, many times through out the years, and now I have the opportunity to expound on the profound appreciation I have for the role he played in my life with others who loved him, too. Fare thee well, sir...fare thee well!
Professors touch eternity through their students and he has that impact on me. My sincerest condolences to the family of Dr. Bowers who was one of my professors at Morehouse College. I remember him as a very dedicated and knowledgeable professor who was very fair. As a Math major he made math interesting as demonstrated by his passion for teaching young scholars like me. He is in my prayers and will always be remembered fondly. RIH.
My sincere condolences to the Bowers family. May The Lord give you strength, comfort and peace as you go thru through this difficult time.
To the family and loved ones of Dr. Bowers... I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences. Dr. Bowers was my professor many times over as I matriculated through Spelman College in the mid-90's to receive my math degree. He was always a favorite. Kind. Funny. Warm. Welcoming. And he had the ability to make the most complicated of mathematics concepts seem simple and understandable. He impacted countless future scientists, business professionals, engineers, teachers, mothers, and entrepreneurs. I am certain he will be missed by all. May God bless his spirit, memory, and allow him eternal peace.
