Obituary For Marva Jacobs

Marva Horne Jacobs, 88, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. She was born on September 30, 1938, to Thomas Horne and Doretha Moore in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and grew up surrounded by family, faith, and music. Marva graduated from Francis L. Cardoza High School in Washington, DC. She also attended Howard University and graduated from Prince Georges Community College in Largo, MD with her associate’s degree later in life while maintaining a full-time job and caring for her family. Marva worked for many years as a secretary in the Federal Government of the United States Department of Interior before moving to the United States Treasury Department for 25+ years, retiring in 1999 to move to Orlando, Florida with her husband Richard to enjoy the warmer weather and enjoy her golden years. She was remembered for her wit, honesty, kindness, and beautiful spirit; she found joy in tending her yard, planting flowers and shrubs, and keeping her home’s surroundings beautiful. Marva is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Richard (89); her two sons, Derrick (60), and Scott (57); and her granddaughter, Nya (26). A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, honoring the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared with all who knew her.
