Larry Cogman was born on January 3, 1951 in Henry County, Alabama to Noah Creed and Annie Lois White Cogman
Larry accepted Christ an early age and joined Green Valley Baptist Church where he became a Deacon. He served his church faithfully until his health failed. He worked for CSX Railroad until he retired. Deacon Cogman was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to all. He was an avid Alabama fan and loved basketball.
Larry Cogman, a resident of Westside Terrace, Dothan, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Southeast Health after an extended illness. He was 72. Deacon Cogman was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Creed Sr. and Annie Lois Cogman, four sisters Ethel M. Martin, Cressie M. Gordon, Julia A. Gordon and Sarah F. Young.
He leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Larry Dewayne (Meta) Cogman, Anthony Jamaine (Tjuana) Cogman, mother of children Dorothy Cogman all of Dothan. A loving and devoted caregiving niece Pamela Coleman; one grandchild Malayah; siblings, Creed (Fran) Cogman, Jr., Baltimore, MD; Billy (Johnsie) Cogman, Accokeek, MD; Gregory (Jeannie) Cogman, Colorado Springs, CO; Mary Porter, Dothan, AL; Gloria Coleman and Betty (James) Brooks, both of Midland City, AL. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Horace Williams Mortuary, 1457 E. Main Street, Dothan, AL
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Burdeshaw Street Missionary Baptist Church, 714 E. Burdeshaw Street, Dothan, AL. Interment immediately following at Green Valley Cemetery, Hwy 84 W., Dothan, AL
