Lizzie Mae Chambers was born on November 11, 1940 in Dothan, Alabama to Ellis Chambers and Lizzie Mae Patterson Chambers.

She was born and raised in Dothan, AL where she attended Dothan schools and graduated from Carver High School. Upon graduating, Lizzie married Oscar McSwain and to this union two children were born, Byron McSwain and Anthony McSwain. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio and after living there for several years, they moved back to Dothan, AL. After she returned to Dothan, she joined Parks Chapel AME Church and worked at Dunbar Corporation for over 30 years until she retired.

Lizzie departed this life on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Hartford Healthcare. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Chambers, Sr. and Lizzie Mae Patterson Chambers; husband, Oscar McSwain; one son, Byron McSwain; brothers, George Chambers, Ellis Chambers, Jr., Henry Chambers and James Smith; sister, Hattie Chambers and one stepsister, Lucille Chambers.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Anthony (Linda) McSwain of Birmingham, AL; one sister, Irene Crawford, Dothan, AL; three brothers, Oscar Smith, Akron, OH; Lewis M. Chambers and Winston Chambers both of Dothan, AL; a host of grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Cremation services were held for Lizzie Mae Chambers.
