Willie Mae Vivian Lewis
Vivian was born March 12, 1962, to the late Sis. Sarah and Deacon John T. Lewis. She was the youngest of seven children. Vivian was very smart and had an inquisitive mind. She did well in school and graduated from Dale Country High School. While in the school, she was in the band and played the clarinet. After graduating from high school, Vivian worked at Fort Rucker as a clerk while attending George C. Wallace State Community College where she studied accounting. She used her skills to handle payroll, inventory, and in customer service. Vivian went back to school and earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, and a Master’s in Human Resource Management from Troy State University. She put those skills to work and became a supervisor at Anchorage Children Home in Florida.
Vivian was an entrepreneur. She started her own business and sold Avon, Home Decorating Interior merchandise, and African Attire. Vivian was also very ambitious and loved to travel and try new things. She and her friends went on several exotic cruises.
Vivian loved family and was one of the key organizers when we had family reunions in Alabama. While Vivian never had any children of her own, she loved children. She was actively involved with her nieces and nephews. She was like a second mother to them.
Most of all, Vivian loved the Lord. She came to Christ at an early age while attending a summer youth camp. Her love for children and business acumen led her to work with the youth department at Greater St. Paul MBC for several years. She helped organize several fundraisers and outings for the youth.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents Sarah and John T. Lewis; three brothers, John E. Lewis (Barbra Ann), Nathaniel Lewis (the late Jenette Lewis), and William Steve Lewis (Jewel). She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Annie Doris Howard (the late Isaac David Howard) of Pinckard, AL, two brothers, Joe Lewis (Diane) of Valdosta, GA, and Rev. Amos L. Lewis (Zeannie) of Tucson, AZ, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
