Flora Elizabeth Spencer departed her life on February 25, 2024, after a long illness. She was born on August 24, 1944, to the late Fred and Stella Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy and Fred Spencer, Jr. Flora joined the Second Liberty Baptist Church at an early age. Upon graduation from Carter G. Woodson High School, she moved to Irving, New Jersey. For many years, she worked for New Jersey Bell, which later became Verizon. She advanced to become a supervisor for the company. Upon retirement, Flora retired to Virginia and resided in Forest, VA. She was a dedicated usher at Second Liberty and served until her health began to falter. She was also a faithful member of the church's Food Committee, and served as Financial Secretary as well as Trustee. She was revered and highly respected for making church embers feel so special by remembering everyone's birthday by sending cards and making “happy
birthday” calls. She leaves loving memories to: her devoted, dedicated and loving sister who was always by her side, Betty Booker (Bobby) of Gladstone, VA; and her loyal, very special and devoted friend, Jerry Booker of Lynchburg. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
