Deepest heartfelt condolences. Mrs Horne was a great, inspiring, caring and thoughtful person. She inspired and pushed others as well as myself to believe in one's self. Mrs Horne was the driving force for me to go to college. Heaven has gained an angel.
My condolences to the Horne family. I remember Mrs. Horne because she was my 9th grade teacher at Phillips High School in 1970. All that I remember about her while in her class was good. She was kind with a beautiful welcoming smile. She helped me to get through a subject after coming in from another school that I didn't care for at that time but She helped me and I will never forget how she made me feel in her class and that I wasn't just another number of many in her class. She made the class interesting and I learned a lot and achieved good grades in her Science class. Thank you for all of that. I pray for strength and comfort to the family for your loss I know she will be missed. Also may you find comfort from Almighty Gods promises through his son Christ Jesus in his word the Bible at Revelations 21:3,4.

There are not enough words to express how much I loved my dear Great Aunt Ruby. After my Mother passed in 2015, we became closer. I will forever cherish the love, support and Godly wisdom she gave me over the years. Her life speaks for her by the dedicated way she served others including her family and her students. I am comforted know that she is now resting in peace with her heavenly Father. I will miss how she showed love for our family with her gentle and loving spirit and of course her delicious cooking. I will miss her watching her sports and news shows she loved and our talks of her times at North Carolina Central University. She will forever be in my heart. Wishing my love and prayers of comfort always to Glenda, Williams, Jordan and Jada. With love always, your cousin Renee

Mrs. Horne was a light to so many communities, especially the Kingsboro Community. She taught me in second grade as Miss Battle. I often joked with her that she was the founder of "no child left behind", because whether she taught us or not, somehow, we all gravitated to her and became "her children". She exuded with love and kindness. She will surely be greatly missed. She is going to be one of the best angels up there watching over us just as she always has. Rest in heavenly peace our Dearly Beloved.
God only takes the best and she was one of the best teachers that I had at NEHS. She will truly be missed but not forgotten.

To The Family, you are in my prayers during this transition of such a precious & loving individual, Mrs.Ruby Horne♥️. Mrs. Horne went out and purchased all of my college materials even before I knew I was going to college, gave them to me and told me I was all set to go to college, so I said okay after giving her a big hug🤗, she believed in me before I believed in myself; she would have been proud to know that I too became a teacher😘, thanks Mrs. Horne.
