Mrs. Horne was a light to so many communities, especially the Kingsboro Community. She taught me in second grade as Miss Battle. I often joked with her that she was the founder of "no child left behind", because whether she taught us or not, somehow, we all gravitated to her and became "her children". She exuded with love and kindness. She will surely be greatly missed. She is going to be one of the best angels up there watching over us just as she always has. Rest in heavenly peace our Dearly Beloved.
God only takes the best and she was one of the best teachers that I had at NEHS. She will truly be missed but not forgotten.
Sending love ❤️ and condolences to the Horne family. I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Ruby Horne at North Edgecombe High School. She was an excellent teacher and mentor. Mrs. Horne was kind and had a beautiful spirit. She gave you the guidance you needed to teach children and be successful as an educator. I learned a lot from just being in her presence. I am praying 🙏 for the family and may God comfort you all during this time of sorrow.

To The Family, you are in my prayers during this transition of such a precious & loving individual, Mrs.Ruby Horne♥️. Mrs. Horne went out and purchased all of my college materials even before I knew I was going to college, gave them to me and told me I was all set to go to college, so I said okay after giving her a big hug🤗, she believed in me before I believed in myself; she would have been proud to know that I too became a teacher😘, thanks Mrs. Horne. She was a very special teacher and friend. God bless you Horne family, always in my prayers; she will be missed. Sincerely; Connie Caudle Lineberger , NESH Class of 78

Mrs. Horne, kindness certainly didn't go unnoticed. She truly believed in supporting MANY of her students and giving them the guidance they needed as they continued in other opportunities of a higher education. Seeing her at our 50th class reunion, last year was a pleasant and memorable night. I am so grateful that she asked me to sit down and talk with her. I shall never forget you ~Marilyn B. Powell
