Macon, Georgia - Services for Mrs. Vernetha Stroud Bryant are 11:00 AM Monday, March 13, 2023 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church with Burial in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. The Rosery is 3:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2023 in the Chapel of Hutchings Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Bryant was born in Macon, GA to the parentage of the late Jesse and Otelia Stroud. She graduated from Appling High School, Class of 1963, attended Howard University, earned a bachelor's degree from Newark State College and a master's degree from Georgia College and State University. She served in the Army National Guard for 29 years and taught physical education at Springdale Elementary and other Middle Georgia Schools. She was a devoted member of St. Peter Claver and worked with many local organizations including the Council of Catholic Women and Travelers Unlimited.

Survivors include: sons; Linphord (Deanna) Darlington III and Kariem Jones; siblings; Lawrence Stroud, Elise Whyte and Gwendolyn Booker; grandson, Jasir Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in memory of Vernetha Bryant.
