A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Mr. Carlos Alexander Bowers on Saturday, July 27, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Services, 3822 E. 7th Avenue, Tampa 33605 with Rev. Wallace Bowers, officiating.
Carlos Alexander Bowers was born into this world on March 14, 1963 to Cashous Bowers, Sr. and Ardelia Dudley in Newark, New Jersey. Raised in a household with multiple siblings, Carlos was the comedic light of the bunch. He had jokes for days! He attended the Newark Public School System and later went on to the Delaware Job Corp.
But in between the funny times Carlos and his siblings were given a jewel from their father, the gift of music. The late Cashous Bowers, Sr. instinctively taught his children how to play and master different instruments and let’s not forget about the beautiful voices they were born with.
Carlos became a powerhouse on the Bass. As a child the 1st band he played in was the Little Rascals that was created by his dad. The band was comprised of his siblings, sisters Sharon and Deborah, brothers Richard and Mark. They performed locally in different places.
When Carlos returned home from job corp now a young man, he became the Bass player for a group called Al Boyce and Together Forever. At this point Carlos had some years of finessing that Bass under his belt. While playing with together forever he met Jennifer Morrison, a singer with the group Impulse. Carlos and Jenny began a romance that would last many years and out of that love they had a family.
In 1998 thee Bass Player himself was recruited by a group called The Manhattans. If you know music you know The Manhattans. Carlos traveled the world from South Africa to Asia and other countries with the group lighting up stages and arenas with the bodacious sounds of his Bass. The group recorded an album live in South Africa for Sony Music that went Gold. What an achievement. He remained with The Manhattans until 2013.
In between those years he played for The group Color Me Badd and was recruited by Stephen Wade a former keyboard player for the group. Another highlight to his career was when he played for Janet Jackson during her Velvet Rope Tour. Carlos has played with many famous people in his life. To say the least he lived one heck of a life.
He can be seen on youtube doing what he does best. Later on in life he settled down to become the Bass player for Deeper Life Ministries in Tampa, Florida. And finally after relocating to Pennsylvania he played for a church there until he departed this life.
Carlos Alexander Bowers left a legacy of Music and Laughter with all of those who knew an loved him. To sit and write about his adventures as a musician we would need more paper but these were just a few. We forever will hold him in our heart and he will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer, sons Habib and Shaquan and daughters Tamika and Aliyah. Grandchildren: Zavion, Zaelyn, Zion, London and Lyric. His siblings Richard Bowers, Mark Bowers , Martin Bowers, Dianne Bowers, Valerie Bowers, Cashous Bowers Jr. , Cashous “Butch” Bowers and a host of nieces , nephews, and other relatives
He was preceded in death by his parents Cashous Bowers Sr. and Ardelia Dudley, sisters Sharon Bowers, Deborah Bowers, and Jacqueline Hartsfield-Allen. His Son Al-Tareek Morrison, and his neice Schalaya Bowers.
