A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Deacon James David Wilson 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 2916 Orient Road, Tampa 33619 Reverend Dr. Joe S. Hardie, Pastor with Elder Ali Spencer, Greater New Salem Primitive Baptist Church Pastor, officiating, eulogist.

Deacon James David Wilson, age 82, of Seffner, Florida, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 26, 2026. Born on December 13, 1943, in Chattahoochee, Florida, Deacon Wilson lived a life defined by unwavering faith, humble service, quiet strength, and unconditional love for his family. A faithful servant of God and a proud veteran, he devoted his life to serving his church, North Bay Missionary Baptist, his country, and everyone blessed to know him.

Deacon Wilson proudly served his country as a veteran and later dedicated several years of service to the University of South Florida (USF), where he was known for his strong work ethic and dependable character. Beyond his employment, he was an accomplished entrepreneur who owned and operated his own handyman business. Through his craftsmanship, resourcefulness, and willingness to lend a helping hand, he earned the respect and trust of countless individuals throughout his community. Whether building, repairing, or restoring, Deacon Wilson approached every task with excellence, integrity, and a servant's heart.

Throughout his life, he was known as a humble, hardworking man whose wisdom, gentle spirit, and steadfast presence touched all who knew him. James will be remembered not only for what he built with his hands, but also for what he built in the hearts of those who loved him—a legacy of faith, perseverance, generosity, and unconditional love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Edwards and Andrew Lee Wilson, Sr.; his brothers, Reginald Wilson and Charles Edwards; and his beloved children, Brenda Wilson-Harris, David Wilson, and Johnny "Wilson" Johnson.

He Leaves to Cherish His Memory: His devoted brother, Andrew Lee Wilson, Jr. (wife, Cheryl Wilson); his beloved sister, Alice Normil; Carolyn Wilson, the wife of his late brother, Reginald Wilson; his children: James David Wilson, Jr.; Andrea Smith; Carolyn Williams-Thomas; Latrice Williams; James David Wilson III; LaTonya Williams; and Shemeica Wilson-Tolbert; and a host of cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, church family at North Bay Missionary Baptist, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing and loving him.
