Ms. JoAnn Rittenberry, age 84, of Athens, GA, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Hill Chapel Baptist Church, 1692 West Hancock Ave, Athens, GA 30606, with interment to follow in Arnold Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 625 Wolfskin Rd, Arnoldsville, GA 30619.
A Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 23, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with Family Visitation from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lizzie Mae Rittenberry, and her sister, Katherine Maxey. She is survived by her sister, Naomi Brooks, and her brother, Harold Rittenberry, Jr.; special nephew, Donald Maxey, a host of nieces and nephews; and her “precious girls” — Laurie Higginbotham, Victoria, Savannah & Montana Mitchell, Gabriella Rice, Cierra Marshall, and “Sunshine” — along with her best friend Annie Sue Bazzelle & partner Mac McCloud and many other extended family members and dear friends who loved her deeply. JoAnn will be forever remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and the love she so freely gave. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Joann was one of my favorite cousin;I could always go to her to talk about the family history and she loved to come to the family church and she would always take notes during the service.She loved the Arnold Grove Baptist Church family as well as the Hill Chapel Baptist Church family.She used to invite me to the gathering during the time that the Colima Avenue neighbors used to gather at the Food For Your Soul Restaurant;she introduced me to a lots of elders people who she enjoyed being around.She loved her cats.She is gone but she will never be forgotten.Love and missing her.😞😞😞😥😥😥
