Bertha Griffin-Lowery

Bertha and I worked together at The Star Ledger for numerous years and developed a closeness that was organic and relaxed. Bertha influenced me to read more by sharing a book of short stories and ignited my joy to read which led to becoming a member of a book club. Bertha was like a big sister, always keeping it real and being supportive. We connected in Atlanta 2024 while she was visiting family and it was so good to see her, hug her and share some laughs. My heart is heavy hearing of her passing. Prayers to the family during this difficult time. Rest in Peace, you will be missed. Gigi

I worked with Bertha for many years at the Star Ledger Newspaper. Enjoyed her friendship, her dinner parties, jazz concerts at Newark Symphony Hall. My mother called her" Little Bertha" because they shared the same name! Just a feeling: I searched for you on social media in March to re-connect...so sorry I could not!
