Coach was a great man, more than a coach but like a father. He played kickball with us and would impress us with his powerful kicks. As kids it never registered to us the coach is actually athletic lol. My favorite memory was in 8th grade. I made myself a safety patrol when finally Coach gave in and gave me a belt. I was a patrol for only a full week and he said I did so good gave me patrol of the month of May. I remember that encouragement any time I get down 23 years later. Thank you Coach Battle! Forever in our hearts.

Wow what a great family friend and coach to both my children at St. V Pius. Rest well Coach. My sincere condolences to the Battles family.

I was very saddened to hear the news of Coach's passing. He was a wonderful coworker and an incredible mentor to so many athletes and colleagues. My deepest condolences to his wife and children and all who are mourning this loss.

We are so saddened to hear about the passing of Coach Nezzar C. Battle, Sr. He was a truly special person, a leader, a role model and our beloved Coach of St. Plus V Catholic Church and school. We will always cherish the memories we have of Coach Battle. Sincerely, The Rivers and Davis Families.

Coach Battle was more than a coach, he was a pillar in the community and an ICON that all of the St. Pius family loved and respected. His love was pure, his dedication was matchless.
