I just found out Godmomma Ruth passed a few minutes ago. I am heartbroken because she was an amazing lady who loved so many of us. Before I came back to work in corporate America, Godmomma Ruth and I would hang out often. I'd go take her to the store or just drop by to chat and pray with her. She was a light in my life that will be deeply missed and forever treasured. Oh, how I loved to hear her laugh and we laughed a lot because she was a mess. :-) When I think of a virtuous woman who loved God with her everything, I will always think of Godmomma Ruth! Job well done, God's good and faithful servant. Until we meet in heaven, rest in eternal peace. I love you!
My deepest condolences to the Hicks Family. I am praying for you all strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time.
Rest in peace sweet lady. You will be missed.
Often we think about the physical person that we have lost, however I believe with all my heart that a person(s) soul is what is most important. The life Aunt Ruth lived will speak for her and has touch so many. I will miss my talks with Aunt Ruth, however she is now resting in a better place. She will be missed. I pray that those yet with breathe remaining will get their lives in order with our Lord before they rest.

To the bereaved family. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember Ms. Ruth as the Avon lady. My mother Lurreta Quinney, helped her sell Avon. They were hard working mother's of Penton street. Never complained but just loved us. Today we need more mother's like them. Ms. Ruth always had words of wisdom and she was a very beautiful person on the inside and out. You will be missed but never forgotten. RIP ๐๐พ Lurreta Blackshear
Mama Ruth was a mother to me when my mother died. She always treated me with love and kindness, and respect. We shared a lot of wonderful times together. You will be missed in the body but never in my heart. Rest in the arms of Jesus.
Ms.Ruth the Avon lady from the neighborhood I remember her for always being on the go selling Avon, and her work as a health care partner as well as going to church. As a kid from Penton St. We the kids of the street would always play kickball in front of her house because it had the big shade tree, to keep us a lil cool from the sun many many good memories from that street my condolences and prayers to the family in this most difficult time. Rev. 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write,Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Years, saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors: and their works do follow them. Martha Ruth Hicks came into my life in 1989. I was dating her son The Late Andy L Hicks, from day one she took me as one of her own. My heart is broken but I lean on God's promises that I will see her again. Thank you, Edna Thomas, Sylvia West, Dewayne Hicks, and Marcus Israel for all the love you've shown me throughout the years and thank you for sharing your mother with me. "Mama Ruth" you've left your imprint in my heart forever. Love Always, Dana Jones-Minnis
Words can't express the loss of our aunt and bonus mom. She loved so unselfishly, forgave so readily and humbled herself so amazingly. I'll miss her spiritual instruction, her godly rebuke and her always showing up for everyone. I thank my cousins, Edna, Sylvia, Wayne and Marcus, for sharing their mom with so many, during her lifetime. I will always love and cherish "Mama Ruth". I thank God for such a blessing. Until then๐๏ธ๐๏ธ
