Obituary For Johnny Ray Rucker

Mr. Johnny Rucker, 69, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Milton, TN.

Johnny was a man full of humor, heart, and down-to-earth joy. He loved to kid around and bring laughter to those around him. His happiest moments were spent at the farm-whether working hay, feeding the horses, or gathering harvest from the garden. His love for horses began early, with his very first horse gifted to him by his uncle, Rufus Gaines. Johnny was a proud member of the Soul Riders Club, and throughout his life he worked faithfully at Butler's, Bonanza Restaurant, Hayes Amusement Company, Taylor Farms, and in farming at Lester and Ray's Stables.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, James A “Mutt” Rucker (1929-1993); his uncle, Rufus Gaines; his brother, James Burns (2024); and Khason McMahon (2018).

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Julia M. Rucker; his aunt, Peggy (Joe) Cole; his loving wife, Mechelle Rucker; his sons, Greg (Tori) Murray and Jason (Rebecca) McMahon, his sisters, Barbara (Tollie)Cantrell and Debra Smith; his brother-in-law, Elwood McMahon; and his sisters-in-law, Elise Angus, Sandra Locke, Pamela Wilson, Cheryl Davis, and Melody Terry.

He is survived by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished church friends. Among them, his devoted cousin-brother-friend Chris Greer, his dear friend Mr Bill Winn, who was like a father to him, and his beloved second family, The Campbell Family.

Johnny was a faithful member of St John United Methodist Church, where he loved everyone deeply. In his early years, he sang in the church choir, lifting his voice in praise and joy.

Johnny's life was one of love, laughter, hard work, and devotion to family, faith, and the farm. His presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
