Mr. William Wiley age 57 passed away on Oct. 3, 2024.
William Glenn Wiley was born November 18, 1966. He passed home to be with Jesus on
October 3, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. He was convicted of
charges that were untrue and was sentenced to die in prison. By the Grace of God, he was moved
out of that dark prison where he lived before the rains and destruction of Hurricane Helene
blocked the roadways. He was set free from this life in a hospital where he was warm and cared
for without further pain and suffering. His re-opened post- conviction appeal was pending in
Davidson County, TN at the time of his death.
William remained a man who kept his word, spoke the truth, paid his debts and fought for the
legal rights of others. He earned an associate’s degree as a paralegal during earlier years before
being transferred five hours away from his wife in Nashville to Northeast Correctional Complex
in Mountain City, TN. Through 28 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections, he helped
many appeal their cases, leading to hope for a better life.
A man with a fair and generous heart, William fed the hungry ones around him, helped and
defended the ones who needed help, and sought to teach the young men how to survive in a
harsh prison setting. He respected others and expected to be treated in the same way. He did not
tolerate liars. With a sharp tongue, he fiercely defended himself and others when necessary. He
avoided gang affiliation and violence and fought to keep his freedom of thought and humanity in
the prison setting.
William was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Williams, his father, William “Bill” Wiley
and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Wiley of Nashville and his four children and their families: Samantha Wiley of Lima, Ohio; Nicholas
Suarez, Sr. and wife Kristin of Lima, Ohio and their children, Nicholas, Jr., Karmyn, and
Brooklynn ; William Wiley, Jr. of Muhlenburg County, Kentucky: Michaela Clark and husband,
Shane of Massillon, Ohio and their children Jamison, Emilie, Hallie and Hudson.
His surviving brothers are Chris Williams and Tassa of Carter County, KY; Steven Williams,
Josh Linville and wife Joyce and their families of Muhlenberg County, KY, along with many
other relatives in Muhlenberg County, Lima, Ohio and the surrounding areas. He was a faithful
and loving husband, a protector of his little brothers, and a man who loved his children with his
whole heart.
Two others whom he loved and who loved him like a father, who cared for him during the last
two years of his life were Gary Martin of Memphis, TN and Darious Fitzpatrick of Columbia,
TN.
William is now Home and FREE – free of pain and suffering, free of the darkness of prison, full
of LIFE, rejoicing with our Father in heaven, loved by the One who is Love, settled in the cabin
by the lake prepared for him by his heavenly Father. Because of that, we rejoice with him and set
our sights on seeing him for a joyful reunion when it is our time to go home!
There will be no services at this time.
Please keep the Wiley family in your thoughts and prayers.
