With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Curtis Wade who left this world on June 12, 2025. Curtis, a proud native son of Youngstown, Ohio, born to the union of John Weatherall and Naomi Wade on September 5, 1956. A beloved father, brother, and friend, his spirit was nurtured in the bustling streets of Youngstown, where he carved out a life filled with love and laughter.
Curtis was a proud member of the East High Golden Bears class of 1974. Curtis found freedom on the open road, investing in his own cabin and rig—a testament to his adventurous spirit. By trade, Curtis as an independent truck driver, he invested his heart and soul in pursuing his passion as an entrepreneur, crafting a life as enduring as his transit fleet which became a visible symbol of his accomplishments.
A lover of baseball, Curtis played first base in Little League, leaving behind memories that sparkled like diamonds in the dusk. His loyalty was a beautiful split between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins NFL football teams, a testament to his vibrant personality.
His infectious love for life was matched only by his passion for wrestling, bringing excitement into every gathering. A fan of wrestling, he was never one to shy away from spirited debates about the best moves and the fiercest competitors of the ring. Whether at the dinner table or during lively sports debates, his presence was a gift, a testament to the life he embraced with open arms and a full heart.
Curtis relished life’s simple pleasures—an avid drinker of Pepsi as his beverage of choice, he savored every bite of juicy steaks and succulent ribs while exploring the many offerings of dining with pure delight.
Curtis, affectionately known as the epitome of a “Girl Dad,” was blessed with three wonderful daughters: and each carried a piece of his heart, shining brightly like the countless stars he loved to gaze at. He balanced life as a loving supportive father treasuring the joy and blessings of Teewanda (Derric) Talley, Tisha (Jason) Mauldin, and Donna Wade, who brought love and laughter into his life. Curtis relished every moment spent with his eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, which provided Curtis immense joy and pride in his role as the quintessential family’s patriarch. The laughter and love shared among the generations rang like a sweet melody in his heart filling his days with warmth and purpose.
Curtis also leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and warmth with his among his cherished siblings- brothers Howard (Royale’) Wade, Charles L. (Faye) Wade, and John Ray Weatherall; and sisters Gaye Ray Weatherall and Judy Dickerson, along with a host of family and friends.
As Curtis’s faith became reality, he was reunited among the ancestors, which includes his beloved parents, loving brother Calvin Wade Sr. and adored grandson, Von'tay Welch, all who awaited Curtis as he crossed the celestial sands into eternity.
Curtis is now at peace, and while we mourn his passing, we celebrate the extraordinary moments shared. His journey continues in the hearts of many, providing fond memories as a beacon of hope to holdfast onto.
In his memory, let us savor the blessings of family, laughter, and life’s simple pleasures with those we hold dear, just as he did. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to join in honoring Curtis’s remarkable life. The 10:00 AM public viewing and calling hour will be held on Monday, June 23,2025, at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave, Youngstown. The Celebration of Life Services will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Lewis W. Mackin II, officiating.
After a committal ceremony, Curtis will be laid to rest in the serene meadows of Belmont Park Cemetery 3346 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, OH, where he will forever remain close to the community he loved.
Curtis leaves behind a legacy steeped in laughter, joy, and unyielding love—an enduring reminder of the bonds that hold will hold the Wade family together through every twist and turn of life. Here's to the man who drove through life with spirit and grace, never forgetting the importance of family amidst all his journeys.
