Dawsonville, Georgia- We are deeply saddened to share the untimely passing of Diaja Ann Benson, lovingly known as Aja Boo, who left us on March 13, 2026, at the age of 30. Born on February 5, 1996, in Youngstown, Ohio, Diaja brought light and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. She relocated to Dawsonville, Georgia, where she thrived in her role with TruGreen Lawn Services and explored her passions.

Diaja was a proud graduate of John R. Buchtel CLC and pursued her dream of studying business at Columbus State University. Those who knew her will remember her infectious laughter and vibrant spirit. She had a talent for transforming any dull moment into a joyous celebration, with a unique sense of humor that left a lasting impression. Her affinity for the color lime green reflected her effervescent personality.

Aja Boo had a deep and personal relationship with The Most High, and her creative soul shone through her hobbies of drawing, writing, and dancing. She had aspirations as a rapper and songstress that blended her love for music with her entrepreneurial spirit, venturing into the wine industry with OneHope Wine. Whether rocking to reggae, rap, or old-school R&B, her love for music truly reflected her vibrant personality and passion for life.

Diaja leaves behind a loving family, including her devoted mother, Pamela McClendon, and her cherished sisters, sisters Jakia Benson, Jacqualine Benson, JaVonda Benson, Reavon McClendon, Peyton McClendon, Jalazia Green and Isis Hodges; beloved brothers Freeman Bankston V, Elijah Hodges, Kimani Hodges, Ricky Hodges Jr., Nehemiah Hodges, Ryan Gibson and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

Diaja was preceded in death by her father, Ricky Hodges Sr., daughter Preyla Marie Renfroe, sister Lafray, brother Hosea, and her beloved grandparents, Patsy and Herman Benson, along with cousin Tameka Woodbridge. Diaja’s journey may have been cut short, but the glow she has left in the hearts she touched will forever linger on. Rest in peace, dear Aja Boo.

To honor Diaja's beautiful spirit, a Celebration of Life service will be held at Jaylex Event Center, 2210 Glenwood Ave, on Thursday April 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Bishop Kenneth W. Paramore as the officiant. Prior to the funeral, the family will receive friends and the community at 10:00 AM, where all will gather to celebrate her life and the light she brought into the world.
