Obituary For Edward "EB" Gowdy, Jr.

Edward Butch Gowdy Jr., affectionately known as Junior or E.B., passed away on February 7, 2026, in Youngstown, Ohio. Born in Cuba, Alabama, on May 3, 1956, to the late Elizabeth and E.B. Gowdy Sr., he was 69 years old.

Junior attended South High School and served his country in the United States Marines. Known for his big smile, jokes, and fun spirit, Junior deeply cherished his family and friends. His love was boundless and could be felt by anyone who had the privilege to know him. His passions included listening to the blues, and he was a super fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, showing his unwavering support whenever they played.

EB’s memory is left to be cherished by his loving children, Kimona (Mona) Anderson and Edward (Precious) Gowdy. Junior also entrusted his legacy to his four grandchildren Donrico Stoutmire Jr., Dylen Dawson, Imani Gowdy, Ebraejah Gowdy and a great-grandson Donrico Stoutmire III.

Junior is also survived by his siblings Lula Mae Scott, Lula Belle Green, Mary Louise Smith, William “Styme” Gowdy ( Marie A.), and Curtis Lee Gowdy, along with a host of nephews and nieces who will carry on his legacy of love and family devotion.

EB was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Gowdy, his father, E.B. Gowdy Sr., his brother, Johnny B. Cole, and his sisters, Hattie Mae Rozier-Glover and Denise L. Sullivan.

Junior will be remembered for his warm smile, unwavering spirit, and the love he shared so freely. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and deep familial ties. As we celebrate his life, let us carry forward his memory in our hearts and actions, honoring the impact he made in this world.

In celebration of EB’s life, family and friends will gather for a public viewing on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 10:00 AM with Rev, Lewis Macklin as the officiant.
