With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Elizabeth Marie Fludd, who entered eternity on May 13, 2025. Born on April 7, 1975, within the heart of Youngstown, Ohio, to the union of Eugene Fludd and Patricia Jackson-Hughes, Liz lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a spirit that touched all who knew her.
The East “Golden Bear” High School alumna continued her education at Eastern Gateway Community College successfully obtaining an associate’s degree. Liz found joy in the simplest of things, particularly in her love for plants, which blossomed in her home, embodying her appreciation for life and growth. She was a medical assistant at the Community Corrections Association where she brought healing and hope to each person she served.
A proud mother, Liz cherished her daughter Mechole Washington and was a doting grandmother to her grandsons, Micah and Movses. She found joy in the simple things, be it caring & sharing experiences with her mother, Patricia Hughes, embracing loving moments with her fiancé Andre White or creating memories with her siblings, Lester (Shantell) Hughes, Regina Hughes, and Laura Fludd. Her warmth and laughter will forever echo in the hearts of many relatives and friends.
As she crossed the celestial sands into timelessness, she was reunited among the ancestors which includes her late father Eugene and grandmother Rev. Mary Hughes. Rest in peace, Liz as your light continues to shine through those you loved and who loved you fiercely.
Join us as we say our goodbyes, remembering the laughter, love, and light she brought into our world. As we gather to honor her life, we invite all who knew and loved Liz to join us in a celebration of her life. There will be a 12:30 pm public viewing on Saturday May 24, 2025, in the chapel of the J E Washington Funeral Home, 2234 Glenwood Ave, in Youngstown. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Lewis Macklin as the celebrant.
There will be a committal ceremony followed by cremation. Liz will be buried in the same terrain she once trod upon contained in an environmentally friendly vessel. She will return to the earth reflecting her embrace and appreciation for the beauty of nature.
At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the family of Elizabeth Marie Fludd elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 330.782.8500.
A Tribute to My Dearest Mom
We said, “Cheers to Fifty Years”, and we were ready to celebrate your retirement with laughter, joy, and cheer. Only a couple of dropped tears, but as you would say, "Hold your head up, stop your crying, and know that I am okay." Mother knows best! You do; you did.
I complained for thirty-one years about being the only kid and never thought I’d have to face this world alone.
You were my best friend, my silent partner, because you’d always wanted to invest in everything I had going on. I wanted to be a nurse, a social worker, and a lawyer who wrote poems – and you supported EVERY dream.
Although you were my mom, we had a bond that others would never understand. I know you didn’t mean to leave me; you didn’t mean to leave us.
Just chatted with you, if I would of known it was going to be the last I would of kept talking , I'm going to miss you and it hurts bad, but I have to smile in pain knowing heaven has a real winner ,,, I'm going to miss you , george pedy miles
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
