In the quiet tapestry of life, woven with melodies and memories, we shall gather to honor the legacy of George Eddie Thomas, a devoted father, loving grandfather, and cherished friend. Born on April 7, 1966, to the union of Laura Ann (McDowell) Thomas and Luke Thomas Sr., in Youngstown, Ohio, George graced this world with his warmth and vibrant spirit until his peaceful passing on September 25, 2025.

A 1984 graduate of South High, George proudly identified as a proud Warrior for Life. As an Army veteran, George carved his path in steel manufacturing, laboring at Warren Consolidated Industries. A talented musician, George’s joyful laughter and melodic saxophone filled the air, as he shared his gift in the Conquest Band, bringing rhythm to life through soulful notes and harmonies.

George’s faith was a guiding light, nurtured at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and New Bethel Baptist Church, where he formed lasting bonds. His passion for life extended to cheering on his beloved teams—the Red Sox, Cowboys, Celtics, and all things Buckeye—creating a joyous symphony of spirit and camaraderie.

George was a devoted family man, surviving through the love of his three daughters, Taneesha Thomas, Valeria Thomas, and Nykeesha Thomas, who carry his spirit in their hearts. He was also blessed with one grandson and the joyful anticipation of twins grand angels soon to arrive. His legacy of love and laughter will forever echo in the lives of his sister Daisy Hill and numerous family and friends who he loved dearly.

George’s parents, Luke & Laura Thomas; brother Luke Thomas Jr.; grandparents Benny McDowell, Bettie Thompson, Major Sylvester Carnathan and Georgeanna Thomas were awaiting to greet him as he crossed the celestial sands into eternity, Selfless in both life and death, George was a tissue and organ donor & advocate, willingly offering himself to enhance the quality of life for others.

In the coming days, we invite family, friends, and all whose lives George touched to join us in remembering a life beautifully lived. A public viewing will be held at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave, on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 9:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 am with Rev. Lewis Macklin as the eulogist. George’s spirit, now free, will forever echo in the tunes of his saxophone, in the cheers of his sports teams, and in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
