Gertha Miller, 92, of Warren, Ohio, affectionately known as GiGi, departed this life early April 21, 2026, to be with her Lord and Savior. Gertha was born February 9, 1934, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Clarence and Nettie (Huff) Lumsden.
The Lumsden family migrated to Youngstown, Ohio, and Gertha rejoined her mother and sisters at the age of ten. She graduated from South High School in 1952. She later attended Youngstown College (now Youngstown State University), where she studied accounting for two years. She was employed at Fisher Department Store in downtown Youngstown as a salesclerk and later advanced to the bookkeeping department.
After working at Fisher department store, Gertha became employed at Packard Electric, Division of General Motors, for approximately 23 years, where she retired at the age of fifty-five to enjoy early retirement in 1989. She looked forward to traveling and attending family reunions, gatherings and trips with her daughter. Gertha also relished spending time walking with her friend, doing aqua exercise, and being a caregiver.
Gertha’s life was defined by devotion- to God, family, and serving others with quiet strength and steady love. She was the kind of woman who made everyone feel cared for, whether through wise counsel, a listening ear, or embracing them as family. Gertha enjoyed The Birthday Ladies Club where she loved exchanging beautiful cards on each of their special days.
She was united in marriage to Roy Miller on July 7, 1976, and together they built a home rooted in love, faith, and family. Gertha took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, and nothing brought her more joy than seeing her family gathered—laughing, talking, and making memories. Gertha will be remembered for her grace, her resilience, and the way she loved with her whole heart.
A faithful believer, Gertha’s walk with the Lord guided her through every season of life. She found strength in prayer and was known for encouraging others with her kindness, her calm spirit, and her unwavering trust in God. She was highly active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church serving as the Deaconess Board President during her tenure, the Willing Workers, and attending Sunday School faithfully.
Family was everything to Gertha and she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved inspiring little girls and decided to be a foster parent. She lovingly nurtured her foster daughter Marquita and was instrumental in her goddaughter Lena’s life.
Gertha leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Marlea Mazyck, Augusta, Ga and son -in -law affectionately known as her son, Timothy Mazyck Warren, OH and Roy A Miller of Baltimore, MD.
Her legacy will be sustained by her grandchildren Sabrina C. Mazyck, Amanda Mazyck Victoria Mazyck, David M. Precious memories are shared by Gertha’s great-grandchildren Sierra Gayles, David Gayles III, Mariah Gayles, DuJuane Gayles Jr, Sophia Weeden, Noah Weeden, Faushia Weeden, Keasia Weeden, Kajuane Weeden, Joel Hempski.
Gertha’s love will also be fondly embraced by her beloved sister Lillie Jackson; nieces Patricia Greene, Phyllis Allen, Shandra Umazar, Brenda Voters and Pam Allen; nephews Rev. Julius T. Davis, Carl Jackson and Michael Allen; faithful friend Mattie Gamble and a score of extended family and friends who she loved deeply.

Though we will miss Gertha deeply, we rejoice in the promise and eternal hope that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
