With a heart as warm as the sun that rose on her birth in Youngstown, Ohio, on February 22, 1934, Irene Marian Morvay, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, departed this world peacefully on April 20, 2026, at her residence. Her journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit, grounded by her faith in the Catholic tradition and dedicated service to humanity. Her intelligence and determination shone brightly, a beacon of strength in her journey.

Irene dedicated her life to the values of independence and service. She served our country honorably as a Private First Class in the United States Women’s Army Corps, spending time stationed in Germany where she contributed her skills to intercept foreign threats and protect her fellow Americans.

Upon returning home, she found her calling as an Administrative Assistant in the insurance industry, supporting those around her with diligence and care. Though her employer is no longer in business, the impact Irene made in her field remains a cherished memory for those who worked with her.

Irene leaves precious memories and moments with her beloved sister-in-law, Shirley Morvay and a score of nieces and nephews, which includes her devoted nephew Pastor Bill (Andrea) Morvay, who insured Irene lived independently and with dignity.

In the quiet of life’s passage, Irene embraced her independence with a spirit like no other. Surrounded by compassion, she formed deep connections with special friends in healthcare, especially Donita and Tammy, who stood by her side as caregivers during her final days.

Irene was proceeded in death by her mother Rose (Torok) Morvay, father John Morvay and brother William Morvay Sr. Irene will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, a radiant light extinguished yet illuminating our memories with her grace and fervor.

In homage to her independent spirit and the warmth she brought into this world, let us celebrate her life and legacy. Irene’s life was a beautiful tapestry, rich with experience and love, and though her physical presence will be missed, her spirit will forever illuminate our hearts. May she rest in peace, cradled by the warmth of eternity.

At her request, Irene's final rest will take place in an intimate gathering, honoring her wishes surrounded by love. After a private committal ceremony, Irene will be laid to rest among the serene meadows of Calvary Cemetery, alongside her dear parents.
