Keith A. Jones departed this life on August 17, 2025, at his residence in Youngstown, Ohio. Born on February 29, 1964, Keith was a true product of his community. A proud 1982 graduate of The Rayen School, he dedicated many years of his life to service in the field of justice and law enforcement. He worked in the security arena within the city. Keith also was employed as a correctional officer, attaining the rank of sergeant, with the Corrections Corporation of America for many years.
Keith was not just a diligent worker; he was also a former coach for the Mount Calvary Sons of Thunder Youth Football team, sharing his love for the game and instilling values in young athletes. As a passionate mentor and coach, he nurtured young talent inspiring them to strive for excellence.
As an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Keith loved sharing stories, especially while taking his children on guided tours of Northside Youngstown, reminiscing about his experiences in the Westlake community and reflecting on how the landscape of the neighborhood had transformed over the years
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Williams-Jones, and his three loving children: Keith “Booder” A. Jones, Brionna R. Jones, and Keimon A. Jones. Keith also leaves behind a stepson, Allan R. Carter, and two cherished grandsons. While he may have probably come across as stern and firm at times, those who knew him well understood the depth of his love, passion and concern for his family’s well-being. Keith's legacy lives on through his mother, Etta Laverne Jones Sykes; his sister, Rhonda Sykes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who will remember him fondly.
As Keith entered eternity, he joins family members which include grandfather, Percy Jones; grandmother, Nanny Bashum; sister, Denise Sykes; uncles Eugene Bashum, Ernie Jones, Andrew Jones; and aunts Patricia Jones and Marlene Jones, all who preceded him in death. As we remember Keith, let’s cherish the moments we shared, reflect on his kindness and strength, and celebrate the mark he made in our lives.
Though he has departed from sight, Keith will forever reside in the hearts of those who loved him. A gathering to celebrate Keith's life will take place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave.in Youngstown. The family is inviting the community to the 11:00 AM public viewing.
