Obituary For La'Vania Y. Henderson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of La'Vania Y. Henderson, a vibrant soul who left us on October 7, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on December 16, 1959, in Buffalo, NY, La'Vania brought a light to every room she entered and a warmth that will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

A proud alumna of The Rayen School, La'Vania's pursuit of knowledge didn’t stop with her bachelor’s degree; she later earned her master’s degree, exemplifying her dedication to education and personal growth. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and held her faith close to her heart, having been baptized at Saint Columba Cathedral, the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown.

Her professional journey led her to a successful career at Delphi Packard Electric, where she excelled in management as an analytic financial advisor. La'Vania's passion for numbers was matched only by her creativity; she was an avid artist with a particular love for the color lavender. And true to her spirited personality, she was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Green Bay Packers.

La'Vania cherished her family deeply. She leaves behind precious and cherished memories with her beloved daughter, Candis Henderson; mother, Vera Easton Jones; and siblings Parrish Henderson, Christopher Hayden, Austin (Chinissina) Jones III, Myzelle Arrington, Renetta Macina, Tosha Jones, and Alberta Jones.

La'Vania also holds a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren, Alexander Henderson, Breanna Haynes, Justice Robinson, and Nyla Henderson, as well as nine great-grandchildren, an aunt Pauline, Carr and a multitude of family and friends too numerous to mention.

As La'Vania entered eternity, she was reunited with her father, Joseph Henderson, sister Linda Eaton, brother Sa'Vaughn Jones, grandfather Emanuel Eaton Sr., and uncle Emanuel Eaton Jr.

La'Vania Y. Henderson's warm spirit will forever linger in our hearts. She taught us to celebrate life and embrace our passions - her legacy will undoubtedly continue through the memories we hold dear. In celebration of her life and the love she so generously gave to her loved ones, an intimate memorial will be held.

For a caring farewell, at this time of intimate need and personal loss, the family of La'Vania Y. Henderson elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Ave, Youngstown, OH 44511 330.782.8500

If Roses Grow in Heaven
Dolores M. Garcia, author

If roses grow in heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

Send flowers to the service of La'Vania Y. Henderson
