In the gentle embrace of nature, on November 18, 2025, we bid farewell to LB Payne Sr., a soul as rich and vibrant as the garden he tended to so lovingly. Born on September 4, 1943, in Rosedale, Mississippi, to the late Velma Taylor & the late John Taylor, LB carried the spirit of the South with him, cultivating life not just in the soil, but in the hearts of everyone who had the fortune to know him.
The Canton resident was a self-taught gardener who found joy in the simplest of tasks — planting seeds, nurturing blooms, and watching the fruits of his labor flourish. Though he walked the earth without a formal education, his wisdom was profound, drawing from life’s lessons and the beauty of the world around him.
LB sowed the seeds of love within his family, including his beloved sister Alissia Cook, his son Lewis Taylor, and daughter-in-law Tayama Qasim. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to blossom through his cherished grandchildren, Osiris and Oziah Taylor.
At LB’s request, there will be no public services. Though his earthly journey has come to a close, LB Payne Sr. will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him, a constant reminder to nurture our own gardens, to grow love, and to cherish every moment. As we bid him farewll, let us carry his light into tomorrow.
At this most intimate time, the beloved family of LB Payne Sr. elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care and Professional After Care Arrangements with J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 1617 Third Street N.E, Canton, OH, 44704 Phone 330-454-3901
