Girard, OH- The family of Levi Walton Jr announces with heavy hearts his peaceful transition from this earthly life into eternal life on March 1, 2024, at the University Hospital in Cleveland. Levi was born December 12, 1961, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Eddie Fisher and Juanita (Greg) Powell. Levi was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend.
Levi was a 1981 graduate of The Rayen School, where he excelled in All American track. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty, honor, and integrity. During his enlistment, he was recognized several times for his valor, including a service ribbon, overseas service and marksmanship badge among other citations. He was trained as a combat engineer and completed his military service as a specialist.
He dedicated his life to providing care and support as a home health aide and habiltation specialist in the personal care industry, leaving a lasting impact on all those he encountered. He had been employed with Gateways to Better Living, Packard Electric, and was a former truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
Mr. Walton leaves to cherish his loving memory his parents, Juanita (Greg) Powell of Youngstown, Ohio, two sons, Levi (Jessica) Walton of Canton, GA and Matthew Walton of Youngstown. His legacy will be sustained by his five brothers, Emmanuel Walton, Lamar (Tiffany) Powell, all of Youngstown, Craig (Christine) Powell of Alberta, Canada, Brian Powell of Conyers, GA. Terry Clay of Ohio. A granddaughter Aaleyah Walton of Canton, GA.
He was lovingly embraced and fondly remembered by his aunts, Delores Wiggins, Claudia (Arthur) Butler, Janice Walton, LouAnne King, and Francine (William) Abron; a score of nieces and nephews.
Levi now takes his rightful place among the ancestors. he was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Fisher, grandfather CD Walton Sr, grandmother Louise Walton aunt Kathryn Walton, and uncle CD Walton Jr.
As we gather to honor Levi's memory, let us reflect on the joy and kindness he brought into our lives. His gentle spirit and unwavering dedication will forever be cherished.
All who knew Levi are invited to pay their respects at the public viewing at Phillips Memorial Baptist Church,1407 Victor Avenue, on Wednesday March 13, 2024, starting at 9:00 am. A funeral service to celebrate Levi's life will be held at 10:00 am, officiated by Pastor Larry Alexander. Following the service, Levi will be laid to rest, with full military honors, at the Belmont Park Cemetery, 3346 Belmont Ave in Youngstown, OH, his final resting place.
A man of dignity and compassion, Levi will be dearly missed all who were blessed to know him. May his soul find eternal peace in the arms of the Divine and his memory continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
