The Crowning of a Princess - Malia Gloria Jean Eiland, affectionately known as Mimi, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in Youngstown, Ohio at the age of 5. She entered the world, born to the union of Ashley Eiland and Mickele Glenn on January 30, 2019.
Malia was raised and nurtured with love by her great-aunt & second mommy, Laletha “Pie” Eiland. Mimi enjoyed playing the piano, spending time with her family, and playing dress-up. Malia was known for her sassy charm and quick wit. She had a perchance for fashion and loved items colored pink.
A scholar at heart, Malia attended Alta Head Start and was an honorary cheerleader at Valley Christian School. Her infectious smile endeared her into the hearts of those she encountered. Everyone who knew Malia loved her sweet spirit and fierce independence. Mimi was a caretaker at heart and loved caring for the family canine companions, Gigi and Java.
Mimi was a keeper of the faith and loved the Lord. She was a treasured member of Prayer Tower Ministries in Youngstown and enjoyed actively participating and interacting during the Sunday School Lessons. Malia will be remembered for keeping church members in line by tapping her wrist whenever someone arrived late to church.
She leaves to cherish with fondest memories her parents and second mommy Laletha “Pie” Eiland; sister, Shania Eiland; four brothers Crashawn Eiland, Dennis Reed III, Demetrius Eiland, and King Eiland, as well as two cousins who were raised with her, J'maal Brooks Jr. and her bestie, Alana Williams.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her aunt Nicki Francis and uncle Johnny Eiland; bonus uncle and aunt, Darrell Herron II, and Alexis Herron; grandmothers, Kim Francis and Constance Weaver; great-grandmother, Gloria Francis; and a score of family and friends.
As she obtained her crown, Malia was ushered through Heaven’s Gates by her grandfathers Johnny Eiland Sr. & Jerry Glenn Sr.; great grandparents Deacon Henry L. & Pastor Lucy M. Eiland; and cousin Johnny Eiland III.
As we bid our final farewell, let us surround her family with support, prayers, and sustaining love as Malia journeys into her new life with Christ.
While we grieve Malia' loss, let us celebrate her vibrant spirit by joining the community in honoring her percious life at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Avenue, on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
A Public Viewing will commence at 9:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:00 am, where Pastor Henrietta Cameron will serve as the celebrant. The committal and dove release ceremonies will take place at Tod Homestead Park Cemetery, 2200 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, OH 44505, where she will be laid to rest among the ancestors.
Malia's light may have dimmed in this world, but her love will forever shine in our hearts. May she rest peacefully and eternally, knowing she was cherished beyond measure. Her time with us was short but her impact was profound.
The family of Malia “Mimi” Eiland elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care and Professional After Care Arrangements with The J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44511 330.782.8500.
AFTERGLOW
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways
of happy times and laughing times, and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.
Peace Eternal Wreath was sent for Malia Eiland - May 08, 2024
