With heavy hearts, we reflect upon the life of Morris Simpson Posey, a remarkable man whose spirit brought joy to all who knew him. Born to the union of Simpson and Vivian Simmons- Posey, on October 15, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio, Morris blessed this world with his laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. He peacefully departed this life on March 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in our hearts.
Known as a true South High Warrior, Morris thrived on the thrill of the open road, riding his beloved Harley Big Hog through life. Whether he was behind the wheel of his semi-truck, competing in demolition derbies, or passionately watching NASCAR, his zest for all things automotive was infectious.
Morris, a proud veteran of the United States Marines, served his country with dedication and integrity, achieving the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge. His commitment to service was rivaled only by his love for adventure.
Morris was a man of great spirit, ever ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. He took the scenic route through life, navigating its twists and turns with humor and wit. His love for family was as vast as the highways he traveled.
In truth, family was Morris's true north. He was married to Terri Ivory- Posey and together they reared their children and created a home until her passing. He is survived by his beloved children, Angela Posey and Elliott Posey, step daughters Samantha Anderson and Dawn Ivory who carry forward his spirit, as well as his grandchildren Jasmine Mathis, Brandon Smith, Nayanna Johnson, Ashely Johnson, Nyijah Posey and two great grandchildren. His siblings Stanley Diggs, Patricia Gray, and Sharon Brewer will recollect fondest memories shared through the years. Morris also leaves his partner Eva Williams.
Morris was not just a father but a great teacher, an exemplary role model, and a kind soul who extended his gentle spirit to everyone around him. He embraced life with an adventurous flair, often seen sharing a cold Miller High Life with friends, laughing heartily, and sharing his electric enthusiasm for music and lively debates over classic TV court shows like Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown, Judge Mathis, Judge Marilyn Milian, and the list goes on!!
In a testament to his faith, Morris was baptized at the City-wide event held this last summer at Northside Pool; a celebratory moment he cherished deeply. Now that his faith became sight, he was reunited with his parents, spouse, stepson Robert Ivory and his brother, Robert "Bobby" Posey.
Morris’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his humor, generosity, and kindness. He will be greatly missed, yet his spirit will forever breathe in the laughter of his children and grandchildren, the roar of a powerful engine, and the camaraderie found in every shared cold one.To honor Morris's life, services will be held on Friday March 28, 2025, with a public viewing at 11:00 AM at the Jaylex Event Center,2110 Glenwood Ave. The Celebration of Life which begins at noon will also include military services for his distinguished service on behalf of the country.
The services will be livestreamed on the Facebook Page of the J. E. Washington Funeral Services. The family respectfully request there be no additional media, including usage of cell phones. As we bid farewell to Morris, let us remember the roads he traveled, the lives he touched, and the love he generously shared.
The world is a little dimmer without him, but his legacy will continue to shine in our hearts, reminding us to navigate life with the same courage and joy he embodied. In life, he treasured adventure; in memory, we will cherish him. Rest in peace, Morris. The journey continues.
At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the beloved children of Morris Simpson Posey elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 330.782.8500.
