Mrs. Nettie Marie Pack-McGaha, beloved matriarch and pillar of her faith community, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 13, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of Howard and Lovey Warren.
Nettie devoted her life to service, embodying love, strength, and compassion. For over sixty years, she was a vibrant and dedicated member of the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she enjoyed a profound connection with her church family, as she lovingly referred to them.
Throughout her years of service at the church, Nettie held many roles, including church secretary, choir member, director of the Eveready Chorus, and ultimately, was bestowed the honor and recognition as Mother of the Church.
Mother Nettie's unwavering faith and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals, nurturing a sense of community among all who knew her, especially during her tenure of service to the Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership, often referred to as MYCAP, assisting low to moderate income residents of the Mahoning Valley.
In a union filled with love and joy, she married J.C. McGaha on September 3, 1993. Their life together was a testament to an endless love, reflecting mutual respect and companionship until parted by his death.
Mother Nettie leaves behind an enduring legacy of love, cherished by her sons, James Pack (Annette), Roger Pack, and Ralph Pack, all of Youngstown. Her legacy is also entrusted to her seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, alongside a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss her presence, love and wisdom.
As Mother Nettie’s faith became sight, she joins a great cloud of witnesses which includes her loving husband; parents; daughter-in-love Patricia Pack, grandson Daunte Pack, dear siblings CoraBee, Ella Mae, Minnie, Howard, James, and Alfred, as well as James Pack Sr her former husband & father of her children.
In commemorating her life, we celebrate a woman of faith who inspired many with her grace and compassion. As we gather to remember Mother Nettie M. Pack-McGaha, let us hold her memory in our hearts and honor her extraordinary journey.
A celebration of life honoring Mother Nettie’s remarkable life will be held at the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1232 Hill Street, on Monday October 5, 2026, the family will receive friends and guests at 10:30 AM and the funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Samuel Holmes officiating.
After the committal ceremony, Mother Nettie will be laid to rest upon the serene meadows of the Tod Homestead Cemetery among the Dead in Christ, awaiting the fulfillment of First Thessalonians 4:16, at the trumpet call of God and upon the return of Jesus, those Believers will receive their resurrected, glorified bodies first!
