Farrell A homegoing celebration in honor of Mrs. Blanche Alberta Callahan will be held Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, at 11:00 am at Valley Baptist Church 500 Sharon-New Castle Rd, Farrell, PA. Blanche Alberta Callahan “Dutch” 87, of Farrell a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, April 25, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Blanche was born on October 18, 1934, to Frank Williams and Susan High in Sharon, PA. She married James Callahan, Jr. and went on to have six children. Blanche was a strong, kind, loving and supportive mother. She was a discerning woman of exquisite taste and she provided comfort and solace to everyone she knew. Her knowledge and guidance were the foundation of her family. Anyone who knew Blanche, knew her family meant everything to her. Blanche enjoyed cooking, baking, writing poems, writing plays, and spending time with her family. She attended Second Baptist Church, Farrell and spent her spare time volunteering at the Prince of Peace. She was one of the founding members of the Southwest Gardens and later became the agency’s first secretary. She was a member of the Eastern Stars, Yokettes, Zylphia Temple #66, Red Rose Club, and Head Start. Blanche was such a light in this sometimes-dark world and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. During her time on earth, she touched the lives of many people across multiple generations. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Robert Callahan (California), Debra Bowe (Sharon), Virginia Callahan (Farrell), Yvonne Callahan (Farrell), Daryl Callahan (North Carolina), and James K. Callahan (New Hampshire). She also reared four of her grandchildren, Varian Callahan (Sharon), Lawanda Green (Farrell), and LaChaurice Callahan (North Carolina);Sweetie Pie (Ca‘Myah Riddic), and her “New” best friends Khyree Hopson, Makai Davis; her siblings, Thomas Williams (California), Robert Williams (Massachusetts), Carolyn McCord (Maryland), Nefertari Callahan whom she loved and cared for as her own, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, fourteen great - great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special sister/cousin, Jeanetta S. Holloway. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Susan Williams; her husband James Callahan; her siblings, Edgar and Steven McCord; Rosetta McCord; her grandchildren, Jamina “Jay Jay” Callahan whom she reared, Brian Brodie and great grandson, Cortney Hilton. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 10am-11am at the church. The family will also receive friends at the home of her granddaughter, Lawanda Tosha Green 1857 Roemer Blvd. in Farrell, PA.
