Robert Cullen Cecil, 67, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, after bravely battling cancer. Born on January 22, 1957, to James Austin Cecil, Sr. and Ella Mae (Strozier) Cecil, Robert was a proud graduate of South High School, class of 1976. He honorably served in the United States Navy, receiving his discharge in the fall of 1982.
Robert had a passion for cooking and baking, and he loved to entertain friends and family. His creative spirit shone through in his holiday decorations and his beautiful indoor garden. His warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.
He is survived by three sisters: Cecilia Cecil of Pittsburgh, PA, Carol Cecil of Youngstown, OH, and Ellen Cecil-Gladden of Los Angeles, CA; three brothers: James (Delilah) Cecil Jr. of Campbell, OH, Thomas Cecil of Youngstown, OH, and Richard (Terrie) Cecil of Youngstown, OH; his lifelong best friend Ricci Stanley; and a multitude of loving family members and cherished friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ella Cecil Jr., grandmother Anna Mae Person, grandfathers Floyd Strozier and George Person, niece Janette Cecil, longtime friend Randy Jackson and many more aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.
Let us celebrate a life filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories. As we gather to honor and remember Robert's life, we invite all friends, family, and colleagues to celebrate his legacy and pay tribute to his years of service in the Navy and the Pittsburgh community.
A public viewing will be held at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave. on Wednesday October 30, 2024, at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life service will be at noon with Rev. Lewis Macklin presiding. May Robert’s memory live on in our hearts forever.
