Obituary For Sherri L. Wilson

With a heavy heart, we share that Sherri L. Wilson, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on April 4, 1961, in Youngstown, OH, Sherri’s vibrant spirit and love for life touched all who knew her.

Sherri was a proud graduate alumna of The Rayen School and continued her education at Youngtown State University attaining a bachelor’s degree. Sherri carved out a successful career as an auditor for the Regional Income Tax Agency. Her sharp mind and meticulous attention to detail made her an invaluable member of the organization, but it was her warm demeanor and genuine kindness that truly left a lasting impression on her colleagues.

Family was everything to Sherri. She is survived by her cherished son, Kent Wilson, her devoted mother, JoAnn Wilson, and her loving siblings: twin sister Dorrie (Gerald) Freeman, brother John (Sharon) Wilson, and sister Wendy Wilson. A tight knit family, Sherri also leaves behind her beloved aunt Barbara Ann Lane, along with a massive host of family and friends. Each person holds a treasure trove of memories shared with her that will live on in their hearts forever.

Known for her radiant smile and infectious laughter, Sherri loved hues of purple, which echoed her vibrant personality. She had a passion for cooking and baking, especially whipping up her famous snowball cookies and peach cobbler, always eager to bring family and friends together around the table. A true foodie at heart, she enjoyed experimenting with unique cuisine and often found joy in watching TV cooking shows for inspiration.

Sherri was also a devoted sports fan, cheering on her favorite teams: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston Celtics, and New York Yankees. Her enthusiasm for sports was contagious, and she loved sharing the thrill of the game with those around her.

As she crossed the celestial sands into eternity, she is now among the great cloud of witnesses which includes her father John H. Wilson, grandmothers Oscelean Brown and Elizabeth Wilson; uncle Willie James Wilson; aunts Lorraine Howell, Dorothy Houston and Roxanne Tate.

Friends are warmly invited to join the family in remembrance of Sherri on Friday August 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM with a gathering at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman Street. To celebrate Sherri's life, a memorial service will be held 11:00 AM with Pastor Kenneth L. Simon officiating.

Sherri L. Wilson may have departed from this world, but her spirit will forever live on in our hearts, memories, and the love she so freely gave. We are grateful for every moment shared and will carry her legacy forward in our lives.

Wilson elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E.
