Obituary For Shirley Jean Blair

Shirley Jean Blair was born in Youngstown on February 21, 1949, and peacefully departed this life on March 3, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of family and friends. Shirley will be remembered for her strength, her love of family, and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.

On July 30, 1966, Shirley married Eddie Blair, and together, until parted by his passing, they built a life centered around love, family, and commitment. Shirley was a proud graduate of South High School, Class of 1967. She dedicated more than thirty years of service to Assumption Village Nursing Home, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Her kindness, reliability, and warm spirit made a lasting impact on those she worked with and cared for.

Shirley enjoyed many things in life and embodied the essence of kindness and empathy, making her a cherished member of both her family and the broader community. A woman of the faith, she was a member of Beulah Baptist Church She loved playing bingo, visiting the casino, couponing, shopping, listening to music, and cheering on her favorite team as an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family and friends.

Shirley's life and memory will forever be honored by her children Lynette D. Blair and Eddie B. Blair, and her bonus daughter Paullet Jones. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kaylon D. Blair and Vaughn X. Blair. Her legacy will be sustained by her great-grandchildren to Kamaree, Kaliyah, Mason, Kaylon Jr., Mekhi, Major, and Aria Blair. She leaves loving memories with her eldest sister Mary Tyson, brother Arthur Jones, and a cadre of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

As Shirley crossed the celestial sands of time into eternity, she was reunited among the ancestors which includes her husband Eddie Blair Sr.; parents Bernice Jones and Henry Riley; siblings Barbara Jones, Cynthia Jones, Beverly Jones, LaRee Iverson, Gail McQueen; and William A. Jones III. Shirley’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us of the importance of love, kindness, and community.

To honor Shirely and her life works, there will be a10:00 AM public viewing on Thursday, March 12, 2026, in the chapel of the J. E. Washington Funeral Home, 2234 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown. The Celebration of Life Services will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lewis Macklin as the officiant. Shirley's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.

Following the committal ceremony, Shirley will be laid to rest among the serene meadows of Tod Homestead Cemetery. The Blair Family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Omni Manor and Hospice of the Valley for the exceptional care, compassion, and support provided to Shirley during her final days. Their kindness allowed her to transition with dignity and peace.
