Timothy Vernon Menton Jr.,the son of Kim D. Macklin Menton and Timothy Menton Sr., shared his first smile to the world on April 15, 1981, in Youngstown, OH. Unexpectedly, Tim would share his last smile with the world at his residence on June 7, 2026.
Tim was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, whose warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was educated at St. Patrick Elementary, Hillman Junior High, and Woodrow Wilson High Schools, but the lessons he learned about respect, kindness, and loyalty became his true education.
Known for his impeccable style, sharp sense of self and collection of designer fragrances, Tim was a man who understood the importance of first impressions. In perfectly matched outfits from head to toe, Timothy was always dressed to impress, embodying a style that caught the eyes of all who crossed his path. Whatever the occasion, Timmy always brought a level of freshness and an olfactory aura that turned heads wherever he went.
However, Timothy was more than just a man with a keen sense of fashion; Tim was a proud soul, a Cadillac aficionado, rolling through life with resilience, proving that when life handed him lemons, he crafted the sweetest lemonade. An ever-respectful soul, Timothy treated everyone, especially his elders, with dignity and honor. His protective nature shone through in every interaction with his loved ones - friends and family alike.
A proud fan of the New York Knicks, he cheered passionately, and he surely would have celebrated their recent comeback with unmatched enthusiasm. After all, he believed in the power of hope and the thrill of the game, with the Chicago Bulls as a worthy second favorite. He loved and kept his Caddies immaculate turning heads on the streets, always rolling in elegance and grace. Yet his prized possession was his ebony-colored Executive Series' Lincoln Continental which was gifted to him by his father
The tapestry of family love was deeply woven and embedded in Timothy’s life which was everything to him. Tim leaves cherished memories with his loving parents; supportive sisters Ebony (D'Andre) N. Penn, Timeka Gayles; devoted grandfather, Lewis W. Macklin Sr. and his beloved nieces, Nia Attaway and Ashia Penn who enriched his life.
Timmy found strength and was blessed with an array of relatives which includes uncles Rev. Lewis (Dorothy) W. Macklin II, Tristan Lewis and aunts Iola “Judy” Menton, Vernetta Macklin-Jordan, Jackie Spann-Menton, Joan “Joy” Hopkins along with a score of other kinfolk and friends.
As Timothy crossed the celestial sands into eternity, he is now among the ancestors which include his grandparents Carol L. Barrett Carter, Ophelia "Red" Washbrook Menton, Rufus Menton, Sr; great grandparents Edna M. Chambers, William L. Ware, Ora McCain Barrett, Vernon S. Barrett Sr.; great-great grandparents Lillian & Oliver McCain, Mamie & George Ware Sr., Cora & Richard Macklin Sr.and great-great-great grandmother Eunice Coleman; aunts Annette Jones, Darlene Menton, Gracie Menton, Patricia Menton and uncles James "Popeye" Johnson Sr., Rufus Menton Jr., Issac Menton, Kenneth Menton and cousin Charles “Duke” Menton.
The family and friends will gather to honor the life of Timothy on Monday, June 15, 2026, with a 10:00 AM public visitation at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave. The Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Lewis Mackin as the celebrant.
As we come together to honor Timothy's memory, we remember him not only for his time with us but for the love and joy he brought into our lives.
At the request of Timmy's mother, in true Madea-like fashion, it is her desire for those in attendance to dress appropriately and not smell like WEED for the services! Furthermore, all passengers will remain within the vehicles during the procession to the cemetery without swerving.
After a chapel committal ceremony, Timmy will be caringly laid to rest among the towering evergreens at Tod Homestead Cemetery. Tim’s legacy will continue live on in our memories, within the hearts of those who loved him, and, of course, in every moment watching a Knicks game unfold with anticipation of what he would have called a glorious comeback. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
