Obituary For Willie Marie Seaborne

On Thursday, August 21, 2025, our beloved matriarch, Willie Marie Seaborne, formerly of Struthers, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home. Born on June 22, 1939, in Eufaula, AL, second daughter of Annie L. Stewart and Richard Hunter who provided her with ten siblings.

After graduating from Rebecca Comer High School, Marie ventured from life on the farm to Hempstead, Long Island, NY to start her new life. Marie would meet and later marry Scott Seaborne Jr. in June of 1965, whom she met on one of her trips to Ohio to visit her older sister Christine. Together, Scott and Marie, raised and nurtured three curly haired confident sons Scott III “Patrick”, Duane and David with love and guidance.

Marie’s life journey was characterized by love, care, grace, service all anchored by her abiding faith in God. Marie accepted Christ at an early age. She united with Beulah Temple United Holiness Church, along with her sister Christine, in 1969 where the two sisters raised their families in the pews from Sunday school, morning service, afternoon service, and evening service, as well as vacation bible school in the summers. Marie served in various positions within the church which included Associate Minister, Deaconess, President of Foreign Mission, President of Home Mission, and the Food Service Ministry.

Marie’s legacy is one of imparting Godly messaging of hope, witnessing to friends and family and being a vigilant prayer partner. Her trademark warm smile and kind words touched all that knew her and those she encountered during her lifetime. Marie loved gospel music and cherished some of her favorites, Rise, Shine, Give God the Glory, Somebody Prayed For Me, The Old Rugged Cross, The Blood Will Never Lose It’s Power, O’ The Blood of Jesus, I’ll Fly Away and I Shall Wear a Crown. We are confident that she obtained her crown and heard the words of her Savior declare, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord.”

Marie is survived by her three sons whom she adored and remained extremely proud of their achievements and successes, Scott “Patrick” (Phyllis) Seaborne III of Centreville, MD, Duane Richard Seaborne of Avon, IN, David Anthony Seaborne of Lakewood, WA.

She also leaves cherished precious memories and moments shared by her brothers, Richard (Tinnie) Hunter Jr. of Eufaula, AL, Otis (Marie) Hunter of Atlanta, GA, Horace (Marcia) Hunter of Atlanta, GA and Ernest (Sanunqie) Hunter of Grayson, GA.

Additionally Marie leave behind two sister-in- love, Kathleen Hunter of Elmont, NY and Irene Hunter of Albany, GA. Marie’s loving legacy has been extended to eight grandchildren, Ormond Barron of Fort Wayne, IN, Amber Baron of Tulsa, OK, Brandon (Hannah) Seaborne, Devon (Emily) Seaborne of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Hunter Seaborne of Avon, IN, Spencer Seaborn of Centreville, MD, Donovan Seaborne of Avon, IN, Delaney Seaborne of Greencastle, IN and her godson Walter Hale Jr., along with a cadre of a nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marie’s legacy of loving, commitment and purposeful prayer will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her for.

As Marie entered eternity, she was reunited among the great cloud of witnesses which included her loving parents, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Hunter Sr.; her partner in marriage Scott Seaborne Jr., who only death separated them October 2003; her six siblings which included two infant twins, brothers Edward and David Hunter, sisters Gladys Johnson and Christine Brown.

Life

Life is just a stepping-stone
A pause before we make it home
A simple place to rest and be,
Until we reach eternity.
Everyone has a life journey,
A path to take with lots to see
God guides our steps along the way,
But we were never meant to stay.

Our final destination is a place
Filled with love, His majesty and grace.
Today we celebrate the life of a loved one
Who has gone before us, the race he has won.
His journey has now ended,
His spirit has ascended
Claiming the great reward
With Jesus, our Lord.
