We, the members of the Redeeming Grace Baptist Church of Portland, OREGON, pause here today to sincerely extend our deepest sympathy to the family of our much-beloved friend and Brother Deacon James Henry Jones Sr. We can say without contradiction that in his passing, a committed, dependable, encouraging, and hardworking soul is at rest.

The passing of Deacon Jones Sr., I'm deeply moved. We truly recognize that Bethlehem Baptist Church and Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, and many other Churches have lost a friend and faithful member of their Church family. He was especially loyal to the Musical Ministry and the Brotherhood Ministry of his church. By his friendly disposition and unselfish dealings, he endeared himself to many, and this memorial will be a worthy monument to his life.

Deacon James Henry Jones Sr. was willing to be an encourager and serve without accolades, doing what was requested of him, and following the example of his Lord and Savior; he was willing to do the humblest of tasks, as well as the hardest ones. When I was Chairman of the Trustees Board at St. Paul, I told him of my calling and the fact that I don't like talking in front of people, and he said, Let God lead you. Then, he just said I've got to go and hung up the phone. We were friends from that point on! He always accepted my calls.

Be it therefore resolved, that though his presence will be greatly missed by his loved ones and those to whom he had endeared himself, we accept the Christian submission of God's will, His calling Deacon James Henry Jones Sr. home. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family and commend them to the Divine Comforter, who is able to sustain, encourage, and strengthen all who call upon Him.

Be it further resolved that we will forever cherish his memory and emulate his admirable traits, and look forward with joy to meeting him in the home which he knew for so many years was being prepared for him in Glory. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's."
