Marilyn C. Careathers, 70, of Detroit, Michigan, passed awayon May 6, 2020, in Detroit.Marilyn was born in Detroit to Mary Evelyn Jackson andThomas Jackson on January 23, 1950. She married Dr. TimothyCareathers, Sr. and was blessed with two sons TimothyCareathers, Jr. and Thomas Careathers.Marilyn attended Washtenaw Community College studyingLiberal Arts, which led to a brief career in retail at J.L. Hudsondepartment store in children’s fashion. Marilyn loved to travel,hanging out at the casino, and spending time with family andfriends. If you wanted to catch Marilyn, you had to move fastbecause she couldn’t sit still. She loved traveling from city tocity by bus or plane to visit casinos. Marilyn spent her timetalking on the phone with friends and family. She particularlyloved talking to her friends from the old neighborhood. Shestrived to be a mother figure to her brothers, they resisted,but Marilyn persevered and was there when they needed her.Marilyn loved the Jackson and Connally families dearly.Marilynn Careathers is preceded in death by Mary EvelynJackson (Mother), Thomas Jackson, Sr. (Father), TimothyLewis Careathers, Jr. (Son), Angel Racheal Careathers(Granddaughter), Thomas Jackson, Jr. (Brother), and NelsonJackson (Brother).Marilynn is survived by her son Thomas Careathers: BrothersDylan Hunter (Gina Davis), Keith Hunter, Melvin Jackson (SharonJackson), and Juan Hunter: Daughter-in-law Kimbley Careathers(Timothy Careathers): Grandchildren Deano Cribbs, TerrenceCareathers, Sharonda Brantley, Cameron Careathers (KamiaCareathers), Krystal Careathers, and great-Grandchildren Jadalynn Rutledge, Deano Cribbs, Jr., and Dylan Cribbs: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
