It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Jane Finstrom age 72 of Detroit, MI Nancy passed away on Monday November 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 1,1953 in Detroit Michigan she was the cherished daughter of Ralph and Dorothy Finstrom.

Nancy’s compassionate spirit led her to a fulfilling job starting as a Teacher’s Aide later advancing to Food Service with the DPS at Hope Academy formally known as Winterhalter Middle School where she dedicated twenty plus years of her life to caring for children.

Beyond her professional life, Nancy had a deep passion for family and the music of Elvis Presley.m and Prince just to name a few. However, above all she cherished her family and adored her grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Nancy was like a ray of sunshine, never complained just got things done with hard work and dedication. She was loved and well respected in the neighborhood she lived in for many years. She was little with a big attitude, but sweet as pie, but didn’t play either. To know her is to love her, not a selfish bone in her body. She loved her daughters dearly and worked hard to provide their every need.

Nancy will be profoundly missed by her beloved children: Shinese (Caregiver) Michelle, Bridget and LaShanda . She was a loving and proud grandmother to Shaqualla, Sapphire, Katera, Trevon, Erika, Treasure, Terrell, Arianna, Za’Chari, Trinity, Laya, Azuri and Brayson. Nancy is also survived by her dear brother John Finstrom and God sister Falicia Douglas.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Saturday, December 13, 2025, family hour 2:00 pm Service 3:00 pm at Jeter Funeral Home - located at 8436 W. Chicago, Detroit, MI.
