TYLER-- Funeral services for Ms. Bertha Lawton, 65, are scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Progressive Baptist Church with Pastor James E. Brice eulogist. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of John R Harmon Undertaking Company.
Ms Lawton was born February 15, 1959 in Smith County to the late Rouie Lawton and the late Tretha Crear Lawton and she transitioned on February 11, 2025.
She was a graduate of John Tyler High School and attended Beauty College. Ms. Lawton was a member of Progressive Baptist Church where she was a former member of the mass choir. She was currently employed with TISD as a bus driver.
Ms. Lawton is survived by brothers: Ronald E. Lawton, Eddie R Lawton (Judy); sisters: Audrey Lorraine Rodgers, Glenda R Lawton and Gayle C Lawton all of Tyler and a host of nieces and nephews.
Public viewing will be Friday, February 28, 2025 from 2 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
My condolences to the family. Bertha was my beautician when I first moved to Tyler Texas. She was so kind and warm. Keeping the entire family and friends lifted in prayer.

Bertha was a good family friend (more like a sister to my mom) I was a client of hers for a when she did hair. I'm shocked and saddened by her passing. She will be missed ๐.
